Paint The Town Red - We were keen to join in the town's commemoration of this mischievous historical event, part of Melton's heritage which is now a well-known phrase.
Residents painted and glued all afternoon to produce the Marquis of Waterford's friends who were duly placed outside, climbing the walls and shrubs to put paint on Egerton Lodge. It is certain that he and his infamous crew would have known this house in its hey day and may have visited before.

The Marquis of Waterford himself, assembled by the residents and dressed in his hunting wear, found all the stuffing, sticking and painting too much and settled himself outside to relax with his favourite tipple.

The display was so good that Egerton Lodge won the 'Best Dressed Window' competition at the Paint The Town Red event.
